The jerk shad is a fantastic bait type for larger fish species, and it works as dynamite on snapper.
In New Zealand, this bait shape is the leading soft bait for snapper fishing. Actually, the jerk shad gets nailed by just about anything that swims and eats small bait fish: kingfish, trevally and all varieties of reef fish through to pelagic species.
The jerk shad shape is classified as stick bait. When correctly actioned it will create a fluttering effect replicating a wounded bait fish inducing hits.
